Turkey hints at Kosovo de-recognition
Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic said that it is possible for Serbia and Turkey to cooperate on the issue of Kosovo’s status once the International Court rules on the illegality of the unilateral independence declaration ethnic Albanian separatists made last year.
Jeremic’s comments come during his three day visit to Turkey and Algeria, another Muslim state that fiercely opposes Kosovo’s independence.
Jeremic’s comments come days after Turkey’s Ambassador in Serbia, Suha Omar, said that the decision by the International Court of Justice will be significant for every country and that “those that have recognized independence of Kosovo, could re-evaluate their position.”
Turkey’s Ambassador also noted that Ankara views Serbia as the key state in the Balkans and that it is keen on enhancing its relations while citing the ongoing close military ties.
In Ankara, Jeremic stressed that both Serbia and Turkey are capable of taking advantage of an opportunity.
“I believe that we are strong enough to concentrate on interests to Turkey to engage it self in the Western Balkans, through the strategic partnership with Serbia,” said Jeremic.
Jeremic will also visit Algeria where the talks will focus on enhancing relations and Algeria’s readiness to submit its legal brief to the World Court against Kosovo independence.
“Algeria is one of the Arab countries with firm and resolute attitude against Kosovo’s unilateral proclamation of independence. We have closely cooperated so far when it comes to Kosovo-Metohija and we expect Algeria to state their legal opinion before the International Court of Justice,” Jeremic said.
Prior to his trip to Turkey and Algeria, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic met with the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis who is in Serbia on a three day visit.

Turkey has not hinted at withdrawing recognition, but has said that countries who have recognised Kosovo may re-evaluate their position after the ICJ gives its opinion on the matter. Also this will all depend on the outcome of the ICJ.

Now all of a sudden the ICJ is a ‘legal’ entity in international law, according to Serbs, after a long while of its legitimacy being questioned by these same people!
When ICJ gives its non-binding ruling over this case, you will see more arguments for Kosovo’s legitimate right to be independent! Serbs ranting that such can’t happen need only look a few years back when they ranted that Kosovo would never be recognised by any state.
They’re just rants and they can continue doing it if they like.

According to your link Fluid, there is a “thaw in relations” and the Turkey Ambassador and Jeremic both talked on UN Court decision as some basis of diplomacy. Turkey is just bargaining off its recognition of Kosovo for something with Serbia, why else are they willing to listen to Jeremic.

As far as I can possibly remember Serbs have had the best possible relations with the Middle East and Muslim countries for centuries.There are many Serbian Muslims, (about 800,000)living in Serbia lets not forget.They are still there and have been for centuries so if Serbs are anti muslim why is there 800,000 Serbian Muslims in Serbia????

Serbs and Muslims have lived together for centuries side by side where both parties were loyal to Serbia.
Albanians have always been different where they are neither real Muslims nor loyal to the state they are currently living in namely Serbia. They have always had seperatist tendencies even before Milosevic even stepped into power. They tried declaring independance several times before as Albanians are loyal to nobody. Make no mistake about it. How many provocations by them did it take before Serbs responded with force?? How many Serbs, Montenegrins,Roma,Turks etc.. were killed before Serbs stepped in with force?? nobody remembers that.The Albanians have tried everything in thier arsenal to secede from Serbia. If Kosovo was part of another country they would have done the same as they have been striving for a greater Albania for years. Kosovo is just the begining.

Last time I checked, I believe Spain is currently supporting Serbia’s territorial Integrity and sovereignity hence the withdrawal of thier respective troops. They do not wish to be affiliated with Kosovo any longer.

You must understand that a UN member state cannot be dismembered without the consent of the country the province in question is an integral part of.
This is a flagrant violation of the UN charter. This is based on international law and not politics as you are currently advocating in the most irresponsible manner.

Ironic seeing how it was Turkey that was at the forefront of training and supporting the KLA even training them in camps in Turkey.

There are over six (6) million Albanians (Macedonian and Kosovar) living in Turkey, all thanks to the Serbian in charge back in the day, Mr. Rankovic.
