Egypt not to recognize Kosovo

Serbian President Boris Tadic says that Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarak gave him assurances that Egypt will not recognize unilaterally proclaimed Kosovo independence.
“We have stressed together the importance of the United Nations under current conditions of global financial crisis and necessity of a solution of global issues in the world organization,” Tadic said.
Tadic and Mubarak agreed that all global problems should be resolved within the United Nations.

The two presidents focused on a series of issues of interest to both countries, including bilateral and, especially economic and trade cooperation, as well as the issue of Kosovo.
Tadic and Mubarak also discussed Serbia’s cooperation with the Arab League, African Union and Islamic Conference Organization of which Egypt is a member.
Tadic presented the idea that Belgrade hosts the summit of the Non-Alligned Movement in 2011 on the 50th anniversary of the foundation of this movement.
Mubarak described the idea as interesting to Egypt and said it would officially be presented at the next Non-Alligned Movement conference, to be held in Egypt’s resort Sharm El-Sheikh in June.
The two presidents also discussed the challenges of the global financial crisis, as well as the expansion of economic cooperation between Serbia and Egypt for which, both sides concluded, there exist great possibilities.
Tadic initiated the signing of a free trade agreement between Serbia and Egypt.
The minister for trade and services, Slobodan Milosavljevic, said that Egypt and Serbia have arranged to bolster economic ties by working together in farming, food production, and the manufacture of automobiles.
“We agreed to find new ways and models for consolidating our cooperation in certain segments of the automobile industry,” Milosavljevic said.
Meanwhile, ethnic Albanian separatist paper Express reports that the Indonesian President Susilo Bambang has allegedly told Nabil Ayad, advisor to AKR leader Behxhet Pacolli, in London that soon Indonesia will recognize the independence of Kosovo.
Also the Czech Foreign Ministry on Tuesday said that the recognition of Kosovo as an independent state is an irreversible step and cannot be change.
We have de jure accepted Kosovo, which means that legally this cannot be changed,” the spokesperson told Belgrade based media after widespread reports that the Czech Parliament may initiate a de-recognition procedure of Kosovo.

What serious country is recognized by 50% of the world? Kosovo is lucky if they even get to 30%! Most of the regular people of these countries support Serbian Kosovo.

I consider myself neutral on the issue of Kosovo statehood but after reading on some of the articles and comments on this site I think some of people taking the Serb position are very far from reality. I agree with the Serbian argument that Kosovo’s decleration of independence probably violated international law BUT lets be real .. the genie is out of the bottle and wont ever go back in. There is NOOOOO way Kosovo will somehow be derecognized by the US and most of the EU and reintegrated back into Serbia. Its just not within the realm of possibilities. Also I think the people who mention that Kosovo is “only” recognized by 50 or so countries also need to face reality. Those 50 or so countries are more than enough for Kosovo to function as a relatively normal country.. dont beleive well consider Taiwain aka the Republic of China which is only recognized by a few island nations and African republics and the Vatican and not a single major power but it still functions as one of the richest countries in Asia and Israel managed to acheive political stability and relative wealth even though it was not recognized by a single one of its neighbours until decades after it was founded…. I respect that Kosovo’s independence violated international law and the EU and US were hypocritical for supporting but it is a fact now and its time people come up with realistic and constructive ideas so that Serbia and Kosovo can move forward and work their way up from being two of Europe’s poorest nations… – sorry for typos but i am in a bit of a hurry .. joe p.

Serbia didnt manage to do that during the Kosovo War over a decade ago and its just as impossible now. And Russia didnt intervene then on Serbia’s side and it wouldnt now either. Serbia’s military is relatively small and not at all well funded compared to the major NATO militaries and even the most radical elements of Serbia’s major parties would not seriously suggest the countrz start a war against NATO. So as I said when discussing this issue people, whatever their positions, need to be realistic.

Joseph, why not? Maybe we need some help but it is possibble, if it wasn’t for the international lawbreaking NATO they didn’t stand a chance.I don’t think that the NATO is ready to start another war, after all they are very busy at the moment.

NATO may be busy and I suppose you mean Afghanistan but its member states have more than enough resources that if Kosovo were invaded they would easily be able to resist such an invasion and also there are already plenty of NATO state troops and UN forces in the region so any Serb invasion would have to pass through them and you dont seriously believe the countries of NATO would just stand by and let the Serbian march to Pristina do you.. I just wish people on here would be realistic and think about ways for both Kosovo and Serbia to move on and join the EU. I always thought partition was the best solution. Give Serbia the North of Kosovo and extraterritorial rights for the most important religious sites and let the Albanian majority have a state in the rest of the region….

How is Serbia going to defeat a combined NATO force,the Taliban don,t seem to be doing a bad job also all the NATO countries woud not be united in any conflict,you talk about being realistic some people will have told the French resistance and the Yugoslavian partizans and the Vietnamese to be realistic but they ended up victorious and the ones who were talking about being realistic were the ones who were busy collaborating with the invader.

dony… like Vuk said the military scenarios is unrealistic and its a waste of time to even suggest it… Serbia has not and will not invade Kosovo.. it won’t happen, Serbia above all has too much to lose and it would almost certainly end in failure,…. but to your taliban example well remember the taliban have suffered huge losses compared to NATO forces in Afghanistan.. the “successes” they have had are largely because of their suicidal zeal and support from some conservative tribal groups in rural Afghanistan … since Kosovo is overwhelmingly Albanian I dont see any Serb guerillas getting much support from the populace in the country/region and I also dont see regular Serb soldiers sacrificing themselves as suicide attackers ambushing NATO or UN forces in Kosovo …. this is just nonsense and soooo unrealistic

OK maybe the Taliban were a bad example but don,t tell me resistance is not possible the vietnamese defeated the french and the Americans, also the french resistance fought as insurgents against a brutal NAZI occupation as did many other countries in Europe because they had no choice and if the serbs want Kosovo back i am afraid they don,t they won,t wake up one morning to hear the americans say sorry boys it was all a mistake thats the bottom line,also you don,t invade your own country you liberate it.
Resistance is simple… Albanians in Kosovo could starve becuse all roads lead though Serbia, can not export, loose electricity and starve… Serbia choose not to do that out of humanitarian reasons which leaves NATO with a reason to pull out of there.
Imagine the targets one could have… let alone assassinating those thugs one by one… Serbia could do it even now so Thaci ought to thank Serbs for living because anyone in Kosovo and their family can be taken out in snap of a finger. And we know how large Albanian families are.
