Thaci
rejects Kosovo cantonization
March 25, 2008 8:38 AM
PRISTINA, Kosovo-Kosovo's prime minister is saying that Serbia will
not be allowed to divide Kosovo in two.
Hashim Thaci says the new country's territorial integrity is guaranteed
by the international community. Serbs are in the minority in Kosovo as
a whole, but Serbian officials are proposing to govern areas where Serbs
predominate.
The comments come as over 3,000 Serbs are gathering in the ethnically
divided city of Mitrovica, calling on the Serb army and police forces to
enforce ethnic division.
Serbs are staging daily protests against Kosovo's independence, which
was declared last month.
