Tadic victor says official election body

The coalition gathered around the Democrtic Party led by Boris Tadic won 39% of votes or 103 seats in the parliament, while the Serbian Radical Party has won 28.5% or 76 seats reports Serbia's Center for Free Elections and Democracy based on a representative sample.

The Democratic Party of Serbia will have 30 seats, the Socialist Party of Serbia with 8% will have 21 seats, while the Liberal Democratic Party with 5.2% of votes has crossed the census and has won 13 seats.

The Hungarian Coalition Istvan Pastor has won 4 seats, the Albanians of the Presevo Valley will have one seat.

According to processed data, voter turnout was 60.7%.

Voting in Kosovo took place at 279 polling stations, as well as at a further 16 where displaced persons living in Kosovo could vote. UN will declarethe vote illegal.

Registered voters were allowed to vote for municipal councilors wherever they lived, the Republican Electoral Commission (RIK) in Kosovo has confirmed. RIK has accredited 10 organizations to monitor proceedings in Kosovo.

The security situation in the province was mostly peaceful and completely under control, reported members of the Kosovo Police Service and KFOR. International police and KFOR troops were patrolling and monitoring polling stations in their usual numbers.

UNMIK Head Joachim Ruecker said that the local elections in Kosovo are without legal grounds and that UNMIK will not recognize the results of these elections.
