Hungary's FM greets outcome of Serbian elections May 12, 2008 11:59 AM BUDAPEST, May 12, 2008 (Xinhua via COMTEX News Network) -- Hungarian Foreign Minister Kinga Goncz on Monday said the initial official results of the Serbian parliamentary elections demonstrated the commitment of a majority of voters to European values, Hungarian News Agency MTI reported. Goncz voiced the hope that Hungary's southern neighbor would have a stable and democratic government. She said the high turnout shows that voters saw a pressing need to express their opinion about Serbia's future. She pointed that the composition of Serbia's next government would depend on the final result of the elections and the outcome of coalition talks. Goncz welcomed that the ethnic Hungarian parties of Vojvodina, Serbia's northernmost province, demonstrated unity during the elections and supported Serbia's quest to get closer to mainstream Europe. The first results indicated that President Boris Tadic's pro-EU Democratic Party and its smaller allies beat their nationalist and radical rivals.
