July 02, 2008 11:43 AM

ATHENS, Greece-Serbian coach Dusan Bajevic has resigned from Greek club Aris.

Bajevic, 59, said he was quitting after club officials asked him to sideline defender Avraam Papadopoulos, who refused to extend his contract with the club.

Aris owner Lambros Skordas told a news conference Wednesday that he did not accept Bajevic's resignation and would take the matter to court.

Bajevic has won Greek league titles with Olympiakos and AEK Athens.

Aris finished fourth in the Greek league and will compete in the UEFA Cup.
