Bosnia Privatization Agency Offers 49% Stake In Airline
July 02, 2008

SARAJEVO (AFP)--The privatization agency in Bosnia's Moslem-Croat Federation said Wednesday it has opened an international tender for a 49% stake in the national carrier, BH Airlines.

The government of the federation currently holds a 99.87% stake in BH Airlines. The remaining 0.13% is held by the regional engineering company Energoinvest.

Previously called Air Bosnia, the company went bankrupt in 2003 but resumed operations in 2005 with government help. Last year it transported 70,000 passengers.

The Muslim-Croat Federation and Serb-run Republika Srpska have made up Bosnia-Herzegovina since the end of the country's 1992-1995 conflict. The two entities are linked by weak central institutions and each has its own parliament and government.
