Kosovo turns into human traffic route rapidly

July 17, 2008 7:54 AM

LONDON-British police say five young men illegally entered Britain by sneaking onto army trucks traveling from Kosovo to England.

Police say the men hid in trucks driven by civilian contractors.

The Ministry of Defense says soldiers discovered the five stowaways in South Cerney in southwestern England on Tuesday and handed them over to police. The ministry says there was no security breach and the men were found and detained during a normal security procedure. A spokesman said Thursday that no review of security procedures was planned.

Police say the group consisted of two Indian men aged 24 and 26, Afghans aged 16 and 18 and a 15-year-old Iranian.

The men are thought to have climbed aboard the convoy at Calais in northern France.
