BELGRADE, Serbia-A Serbian newspaper has run a front-page photograph
showing Radovan Karadzic without the long hair and heavy beard he used
to hide from authorities.
The Blic daily's photo of the ex-Bosnian Serb leader apparently was
taken in a detention unit days before he was extradited to the U.N. war
crimes tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands, Wednesday.
Karadzic's long, gray hair and beard had helped him conceal his identity
while on the run. He was arrested in Serbia on July 21.
His Lawyer, Sveta Vujacic says, Karadzic asked for a barber to be sent
to the detention unit in Belgrade.
Karadzic has been charged by the U.N. court with genocide and crimes
against humanity. He is scheduled to make his initial appearance in the
court on Thursday.
