ECB, EU, Serbian Central Bank Launch Analysis Project
September 01, 2008

FRANKFURT (Dow Jones)--The European Central Bank Monday launched an analysis program with the National Bank of Serbia.

The analysis will look at bank supervision, legislation, capital liberalization, policy and the foreign-exchange rate regime, balance of payment statistics, and consumer protection in financial services.

ECB executive board member Gertrude Tumpel-Gugerell launched the program together with Serbian national bank Governor Radovan Jelasic, along with members of the European Agency for Reconstruction, and the European Commission.

The European Union commission has allocated EUR400,000 to the project, which is viewed as a step toward strengthening economic and financial cooperation between the Serbian bank and E.U. central banks.
