Bosnian citizen wanted for terrorism by his native Syria has been arrested by Bosnian Muslim authorities and may face deportation says his lawyer.

Imad al Hussein better known as Abu Hamza is being held in the Immigration Center in Lukavica in the department of aliens says Bosnian Muslim Ministry for Security.

Abu Hamza's lawyer, Osman Mulahalilovic, says that his client may be deported and that he will appeal his case with the Human Rights Court in Strasbourg.

Abu Hamza came to the Balkans in the 1980s to study medicine but became the leading organizer for Jihad operations in Bosnia and Kosovo. He was part of the special El Mujaheed units within the Bosnian Muslim Army and took part in committing heinous atrocities such as beheadings and burning Christians alive in the name of Allah.

He was given a local Bosnian wife and a citizenship and is revered as a Bosnian Muslim hero by many.

Another Bosnian Muslim war criminal who was pronounced innocent by the Hague court, Naser Oric, was also arrested over the weekend for extortion and organized crime. Oric killed thousands of Serbs in and around Srebrenica before Serb army took his soldiers.

"I have the information that my client was arrested in order to be identified," said Abu Hamza's lawyer.

"In the moment when he arrived at the car wash, he was surrounded by police in civilian clothes," said the lawyer.

The lawyer said that if he was arrested in order to be deported, then the police has made a criminal act.
